London: Trubner, [ca.1886]. Original red-brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Yellow coated end papers. Cloth worn at spine ends, some repair to upper spine, rubbing to cloth, otherwise very good; internally clean and fresh. The imprint at the base of the spine reads: "TRUBNER & CO." The three sections have individual title pages which bear the imprint: "London: Trubner & Co. / Yokohama: Kelly & Walsh". The preface is dated 1886. This is the combined edition of three works which were published separately. Copies are also seen in blue cloth, and with a variant imprint of "Paul, Trench and Trubner". Cordier: Bibliotheca Japonica, page 640.
