5 Old Sleuth [probably by Harlan Page Halsey] The Twin Ventriloquists; or, Nimble Ike and Jack the Juggler. A Tale of Strategy and Jugglery. By Old Sleuth.
NY: Parlor Car Publishing Co., 1895.
Original pictorial wrappers, stapled. Chipped at spine and edges (affecting part of the series title at the top), front cover and first leaf detached, very good otherwise. Paper is very yellowed and brittle = fragile. Issued as No. 41 in the series: Old Sleuth's Own. December 16, 1895. Worldcat cites a copy in the McManus-Young Collection at the Library of Congress, with an imprint of Ogilvie, 1895. The Ogilvie edition also issued the book as No. 41 in its Old Sleuth's Own series, and it has a copyright notice citing the Parlor Car Publishing Co., suggesting that this Parlor Car edition precedes. An entry in Cox's Dime Novel Companion suggests that Parlor Car was owner by George Munro, and that Ogilvie reprinted a number of the books in this series. Very scarce in either original edition.
