[302]pp. + 5 leaves of ads at rear. Yellow coated end papers. All edges gilt. Red cloth designed and lettered in gilt. Wear to spine ends, some chipping to lower tips and base of spine, tear along rear hinge at top of spine, a couple of signatures starting; still, quite a bright copy, very good otherwise. This collaborative novel is a tale of slavers, murder and revenge. Wright III: 1334.

Paris: Baudry's European Library, 1837. First Continental edition; first published in England by Longmans in three volumes, 1835. Quarter-calf & marbled boards, spine designed and lettered in gilt. Blue-green coated end papers. [346]pp. Some foxing and discoloration to early and late leaves, some wear to edges and corners, a very good copy. The title of the British edition was: "One In A Thousand; or, The Days of Henry Quatre". An historical novel of the late 14th and early 15th centuries.

NY: Harper & Brothers, 1851. Original tan printed wrappers. Upper spine chipped away, some wear and chipping to edges, very good otherwise. Some scattered foxing, a few page corners folded. Issued as No. 154 in the Library Of Select Novels. Four pages of publisher's ads at rear, also ads on the inner covers and back cover. The first edition was issued in Dublin in 1843, and was illustrated by PHIZ. This American edition has no illustrations. Satirical science fiction - a Lunarian is sent to Earth. James, a prolific novelilst, wrote over 90 books.
