1 Defoe (Daniel) and/or Pierce (John). -possible authors. Legions humble Address to the Lords. To the Right Honourable the Lords Spiritual and Temporal Assembled in Parliament.
[Edinburgh: Printed by John Reid younger, 1704]. First edition. Issued anonymously. A single leaf, once folded to create a 4-page booklet. The paper is badly yellowed, chipped at edges, with some loss to the lower edge, where someone has rebuilt the paper somewhat, and hand-lettered the missing text. One word has been inked out on page 3. Once attributed to Daniel Defoe, however: "There can be no doubt that [Daniel Defoe] was deeply involved in it, in conjunction with ... John Pierce ... the weight of evidence is in favour of Pierce, rather than Defoe, as the actual author."--Furbank and Owens, Defoe de-attributions, 1994. Exceedingly fragile.
