4 Gunter (Archibald Clavering) The City of Mystery. (Taken from the Archives of Ancient Paris, as found in the secret prison of the Exempt, Pomereu in the Rue de la Tixeranderie when the buildings were torn down in 1851).
NY: Hurst, (1902).
[276]pp. + 6 leaves of ads at rear. Original wrappers, designed and lettered in dark green. Edges of wrappers and first & last leaves a bit chipped at edges, front cover and first leaf dust-soiled, crease in back cover and final leaves; about very good otherwise. A fragile paperbound book, original price 25 cents. This title omitted or missed by Wright, who lists a good many by Gunter. The first edition of this title is supposedly the one issued by the American Home Publishing Co., also in 1902. Documents found when a building is demolished in 1851 tell of Paris, and of a secret prison, administered by Pomereu.
