Machen (Arthur) Out of the Earth And Other Sketches. Girard: Haldeman-Julius, [nd]. Little Blue Book No. 970. Small blule-gray printed wrappers, stapled. 64pp. Sunned at edges, paper browning, a couple of folded page corners straightened, a decent copy. Short publisher's catalogue at rear. Actually a rather scarce little collection, in our experience. Missed by Goldstone. In addition to the title sketch, this contains THE SPAGYRIC QUEST OF BEROALDUS COSMOPOLITA, THE HIDDEN MYSTERY, THE ART OF DICKENS, and UNCONSCIOUS MAGIC. Price:

Machen (Arthur) The Great God Pan and The Inmost Light.
London: John Lane/Boston: Roberts Bros., 1895. Second edition. Slate cloth designed in white, spine lettered in gilt. Ads at rear dated 1895. Rubbing and wear to edges, bookplate on front end paper, ownership stamp on fly leaf; in general, a fairly bright, very good copy otherwise. The words "Second Edition" have been removed quite expertly from the verso of the title page, possibly with some fine steel wool. Binding design by Aubrey Beardsley, repeated on the title page. The first edition is dated 1894; this 1895 edition is uncommon. Price:
