Westminster: Beaumont Press, 1921. First edition. Decorative boards, tan cloth spine designed and lettered in gilt. Illustrated end papers. Colour illustration on title page and many decorations throughout by Randolph Schwabe. A trace of shelf wear to tips, but a fresh and attractive copy. Printed at the Beaumont Press, 'The Typography and Binding arranged by Cyril William Beaumont'. Of an edition of 330, this is one of 264 copies on hand-made paper.

NY: Knopf, 1923. First American edition. Green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front cover designed and lettered in gilt. Frontispiece in color, and numerous illustrations throughout, many are full-page. Top edge gilt. Slight dust soiling, a nice bright copy. Quite a handsome book. The British edition was published in 1921, and was illustrated by a different artist, Randolph Schwabe.

London: John Murray, 1904. First edition, first issue, with no final bracket after "Walter Ramal" on title page. Blue cloth, spine designed and lettered in gilt. A couple of dents to edges, moderate soiling of cloth, a bright very good copy, the decorative spine in nice condition. De La Mare's second book, the first published under his own name, an allegorical tale in which Henry Brocken visits with famous characters from bookland, such as Gulliver, Sleeping Beauty, Jane Eyre, etc. Reginald 04029.

Full vellum, spine lettered in gilt. Patterned end papers. A few small marks to vellum, but a nearly fine copy. Printed in an edition of 200 copies of which 175 were for sale. This copy out-of-series, the colophon altered in holograph to indicate that it is one of nine copies printed in addition to the 200 - six of which were for copyright libraries. It is signed by someone, perhaps the printer, "for The Bookman's Journal". Issued as Number 3 of The Vine Books, with three wood blocks by W.P. Robins, printed at the Morland Press.

London: Constable, 1913. First edition. Blue cloth, spine and front cover ruled, designed and lettered in gilt. Modest shelf wear to the edges and hinges, an attractive bookplate on the inner front cover, a very good copy. The bookplate, the design of which includes a pair of peacocks, is that of Godfrey Elton, the First Baron Elton (we presume). A significant book, referred to by The Times as "surely one of the great children’s books of the century."

Both volumes are numbered and signed. A nice looking set.
