Gottwaldova: Vytiskly Slovacke, 1957. A portfolio of ten loose plates and an 8-page descriptive booklet, in a portfolio with a decorative letter "B" on the front wrapper. Some light dust soiling, a bit of wear to the edges of the portfolio, otherwise fine. All ten plates are signed in pencil by the artist, Jozka Baruch. They are bookplate designs, woodcuts, all relating in some way to the famour Czech poet Mistra Petra Bezruce (1867 - 1957) [Petr Bezruc, pseudonym of Vladimir Vasek]. The portfolio commemorates Bezruc's 90th birthday. This is copy #46 of an edition of 100.

Yale University: R. Hunter Middleton, 1976. "This impression from the original engraved boxwood block, now in the collection of the Newberry Library in Chicago, has been taken by R. Hunter Middleton as a keepsake for guests at the Carl Purington Rollins Lectures on the Typographic Tradition, Yale University, April 1976. Printed on a sheet measuring about 8 x 10 inches, in a gray paper portfolio with a printed label on the front. Fine condition. Middleton was a type designer and art director; he also was a collector of Bewick, and gave a number of original Bewick engraved blocks to the Newberry Library. Number of copies is unknown.

This is a group of 20 ephemeral pieces, most probably printed by students, produced at the University's press in the early 1970s. They include a Georges Braque broadside, a William Langland quote, poetry by Lynne Dal Poggetto (2 copies) and Karen Aughinbaugh (4 copies), a bookplate, some poetry broadsides, and a few small printed signs for the press itself. Condition is mostly fine, several are dated 1971 - 1973. Various sizes, mostly about 6 x 9 inches.

Amsterday: Van Holkema & Warendorf, [1941]. These are possibly proofs from this book; they are the frontispiece and illustrated title page, both signed in pencil beneath by Dirk Van Gelder. One leaf, folded in half, fine condition; the leaf has been pasted to a page from a binder, glued only at the fold, and can be easily removed. Images are about 2 x 3.25 inches, the entire sheet measures 11 x 7 inches when opened.
