Aarhus: Kannike Tryk, 1975. White cloth, plain & unlettered, in a pictorial red dust jacket. Jacket a bit worn at edges, large piece torn from upper rear jacket panel, otherwise a nice copy. Published for the theater's 75th Jubilee. A large volume, profusely illustrated. This copy has been presented to someone in 1977, and has been signed by 13 people, at least some of whom are associated with Danish theatre. I cannot make out all of the names, but a few are: Barbara Freud-Magnus, Erik V. Jacobsen, Erik Wisler, Freddy Laursen, Max Gjedde, Jens Anker Olsen.

A tale of Algiers, of an impoverished Arab aristocrat's daughter and her marriage to a dervish. According to the jacket description, there is 'no tawdry "sheik" and "dancing girl" hokum..." Abdullah was the author of THE THIEF OF BAGDAD.

Some small areas of discoloration on cloth along edges, perhaps from dampness; otherwise, a very fresh and atteractive copy in a nice example of the pictorial dust jacket. The jacket has some internal brown tape repairs to the hinges and edges, very slight fading of the red lettering on the spine, but very nice otherwise. A historical novel exploring the origins of a fair-haired strain in Maori ancestry; also deals with the strange powers of the mind sometimes exhibited by the Maori chiefs.

Upper corner torn from one leaf (109/110), affecting the running headline. An ownership inscription in the front is that of Abraham Winslow, Bought January 1st 1823.

This anonymously edited anthology contains thirty stories by popular authors of the day, including Opie Read, Mary E. Wilkins, George Ade, Albert Bigelow Paine, Stanley Waterloo, Irving Bacheller and others. There are several supernatural & fantastic stories, including a mummy story by Opie Read: "The Princess Yepti." Also issued with the imprint: Jamieson-Higgins Co., 1900. Wright III: 4931 [this edition located in LC and O only]. Quite uncommon.
